Inert ceramic balls, also known as inert balls or catalyst support media are very important component in the catalytic process in the refinery, gas processing and petrochemical industry. Inert ceramic balls are widely used in petroleum, chemical industry, chemical fertilizer, natural gas and environmental protection industries, as the covering supporting materials and tower packing in the reactor.
The main function of inert ceramic balls is to act as packing material and at the same time to support the catalyst bed in order to prevent breakthrough or loss of catalyst or adsorbent materials downstream of the reactor vessels due to the high pressure and temperature inside the reactor vessels during the operation.
Ceramic balls come in different sizes, which include 1”, 3/4”, 1/2”, 1/4” and 1/8”. These sizes are arranged layer by layer at the top and bottom of the vessel or reactor.
High purity inert ceramic ball (alumina 99%) is widely used in many fields, such as petroleum, chemical engineering, fertilizer, environmental industry, etc.
Being the covering and supporting material and tower packing for catalyst in the reactor, the ceramic ball has features of high intensity, high chemical stability and thermal stability, it withstands high temperature and pressure during the process, and also resists the corrosion from the acid, alkali and other organic solvent. The leading effects of ceramic ball are to increase the distributing spots of gas or liquid, also support and protect the activated catalyst from the rushing of the gas and liquid inside of the reactor.
Inert alumina ceramic balls are made from bauxite or calcined alumina powder. It is widely used in many fields, including petrochemical, chemical engineering, fertilizer production, natural gas and environmental protection.
Inert ceramic balls are used as topping and supporting materials of catalysts in reaction vessels and as packing in towers.
Inert ceramic ball is a material of high stability, perfect thermal resistance, low water absorption, high compressive strength and perfect corrosion resistance of acid, alkali and some other organic solvents.
Inert ceramic ball also has proven performance of thermal shock resistance (They can stand the change in temperature during the manufacturing process.)
The main application of inert ceramic balls is to increase the distribution spots of gas or liquid in a reactor, and to support and protect the activating catalyst with low strength.
