The main crystal phase of alumina ceramic is the corundum crystal phase (α-Al2O3), and the content of alumina in the formulation has a great influence on the performance of alumina ceramics.
Al2O3 content is high, ceramic firing temperature is also high.
With the increase of Al2O3 content, the mechanical strength of ceramics also increases.
The content of Al2O3 has a significant effect on its electrical properties.
With the increase of Al2O3 content, the dielectric constant and specific volume resistance increase, the dielectric loss decreases, and the dielectric constant and dielectric loss decrease with increasing frequency.
The thermal conductivity increases with the increase of Al2O3 content.
2. Applications of alumina ceramics
Because of the high mechanical strength, large insulation resistance, high hardness, abrasion resistance, corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance, alumina ceramics can be used as electronic ceramics, such as vacuum devices and circuit substrates, solid circuit casings, spark plug insulators, etc.
With the high strength and hardness, alumina ceramics can be used as a structural ceramic, for example, as a lining for abrasives, tools, plungers, cylinder liners, valves, etc.
With the good chemical stability, alumina ceramics can be used as chemical and bio-ceramics, for example, artificial joints, platinum substitutes, catalyst carriers and aviation, magnetic fluid power generation materials.
Alumina ceramics are widely used in textile, mining, petroleum, chemical, power, electronics and construction industries.
